School District No. 1 in Howard County covers 104 square miles and has an actual valuation of $208,270,480.  This Class 3 Type K-12 district is accredited by the state of Nebraska and the North Central Association.

The maximum capacity of the public elementary schools is 400.  The junior-senior high school was built in 1923, with additions in 1950, 1976, 1980 and 1990 and has a maximum capacity of 500.  An addition to the school was built in 1998 to serve as the school/community library.  Our school community library has a multimedia room with Internet access as well as a bank of 10 computers for the public use.  It is estimated that 98% percent of the eighth grade students finish high school.  In 2008 voters once again gave approval to the construction of additions to both the elementary and secondary portions of the school.

Students may gain college credit in English and Mathematics through our “state of the art”, one static IP based distance-learning classroom.  This room allows real time two-way interactive video/audio distance learning with up to three sites simultaneously.  We also have the capabilities of a mobile one-to-one two-way interactive video/audio connection using a polycom.

Adult educational programs are available in the high school in cooperation with the Central Community College.

Saint Paul has a complete special education program for K-12.

The St Paul Public School district uses a 100 Meg backbone for their computer network needs, with two servers running in the building.

We have 1 static computer lab in the elementary with 25 computers and two high school computer classrooms with 25 computers each.  The computers in the district are filtered thru Educational Service Unit #10 in Kearney to protect the students from inappropriate materials.

Vocational courses offered in the high school include business, carpentry, mechanics, home economics, and agriculture.  Our industrial arts program teaches AutoCAD and has a computer controlled laser.
